Family Privacy & Child Data

A parent or legal guardian creates and controls the household account. A child under 13 may not independently create a contractual or paid Virtueward relationship. Parent authority remains the governing layer for student access, optional features, media, AI use, records, instructional minutes, grades, and portfolio approval.

• An adult-selected username and a platform-hashed password.
• An isolated household identifier and acceptance of the applicable family notice.
• Authentication/session records and basic security timestamps needed to protect access.
• A parent-created student username and display name; no child email address is required.
• Lesson answers, ready-for-review status, parent-entered grades and notes, Moriah text transcripts, and the last student-activity timestamp.
• Living Learning metadata such as the student’s written observation, broad family-supplied location if used, subject connections, project/lesson choice, parent review state, instructional minutes approved by the parent, and limited references to family-owned evidence files.
• Support communications that a parent or guardian intentionally sends to UVP.
• Basic technical logs such as IP address, browser/device information, timestamps, and error/security records generated by hosting and application infrastructure.

Living Learning is designed so the original evidence file remains in a location the family controls, including a computer folder, external drive, Google Drive or OneDrive synced folder, or another family-selected storage location. Virtueward may keep an evidence name, type, size, provider label, and family-folder reference so the learning record remains organized. The platform must not silently copy those originals into UVP media storage.

Where a browser cannot write directly to a family-selected folder, the student or parent must save the media with the device or cloud provider and may export the Virtueward manifest separately. Loss, movement, permission changes, or deletion of a family-owned original can make the reference unavailable; Virtueward does not promise an undisclosed backup copy.

Microphone use is optional. The browser may use its speech-recognition service to turn speech into editable text; Virtueward sends that text only after the student chooses to submit it. Virtueward does not store the raw microphone recording. When Moriah answers, relevant lesson and conversation text may be processed by configured AI services, and Moriah's reply text may be sent through the protected Aleph/Rhema voice service to create spoken audio. These features should not be used for private or sensitive information.

Living Learning lesson planning can use the student's written observation and evidence metadata without sending the original media file. If a future or enabled vision/document-analysis step needs an original evidence file, the parent must separately approve that evidence item before the file is transmitted for the requested analysis. The feature should use non-retaining provider settings where available and should not treat that temporary processing as permission to retain the original media.

Before Virtueward enables a feature that collects personal information directly from a child under 13 in a way that requires verifiable parental consent under applicable law, UVP will provide the required parent notice and implement an appropriate consent process. The parent must be able to review, correct where appropriate, delete, or stop further collection of covered child information, subject to lawful retention requirements.

Parent approval of a Living Learning experience, grade, instructional time, or portfolio use is separate from parent approval to transmit an evidence file to an AI service. One approval does not imply the other.

• Provide household access, curriculum features, Living Learning organization, support, and records the parent has enabled.
• Help Moriah create evidence-first lesson, report, project, and reflection scaffolds without replacing the student’s own work.
• Protect accounts, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and maintain service integrity.
• Process purchases only when paid enrollment or products are clearly offered and the adult completes the payment step.
• Comply with lawful accounting, contractual, safety, security, and regulatory obligations.

• Virtueward does not sell student personal information.
• Virtueward does not build advertising profiles from student activity or serve behavioral advertising to students.
• Virtueward does not require a child to keep activity secret from a parent or guardian.
• Virtueward does not intentionally submit identifiable student content for general-purpose public model training.
• Virtueward does not treat AI output as automatic grading, credit, or parent approval.
• Virtueward does not silently retain a server-side backup of family-owned Living Learning media merely because the file was referenced by a lesson or portfolio entry.

UVP may use hosting, database, security, email, payment, storage, and AI service providers only as needed for an enabled feature. Providers receive only the information reasonably needed for that function. Current pilot household records are retained while the account remains active or as needed for security, support, disputes, accounting, or legal obligations. Family-owned evidence remains subject to the family's own storage-provider settings and deletion choices. A verified parent may request deletion of Virtueward account records at any time.

If future direct cloud OAuth, media analysis, adaptive-profile, live AI, or other learner-data features materially change the information Virtueward collects or where it flows, the applicable notice will be updated before the feature is relied on for student use.
